Who we are

Prospect K.K. (Prospect / 远景跨境) is a Japan-China cross-border legal advisory firm with owned premises in Tokyo Nihonbashi, established in April 2025. We focus on two practice areas:

• China legal desk for Japanese clients: trademark, insolvency, dispute resolution, China legal advisory through a single Tokyo window
• Japan market entry for Chinese clients: end-to-end formation, banking, visas, tax, compliance

China-side execution is handled directly by Haihua Yongtai Law Firm, with offices across China.

What makes us different

• Large Japanese firms (700+ lawyers): high entry fees, slow turnaround, multiple layers of associates. Their China practice groups are mostly Japanese lawyers without true China execution
• Chinese firm Tokyo branches: strong on PRC law but weaker on Japanese conventions and Japanese-language client work
• Cross-border consultancies: can run procedures but cannot draft contracts, handle insolvency, or take on complex disputes

Structure

Tokyo Nihonbashi office

We own our premises in Nihonbashi—not a shared workspace, not a virtual office. Our resident partner has 30+ years in Japan, including senior legal and finance roles at a Tokyo-listed company, and a doctorate from Nagoya University. Every client matter is handled directly by the partner—no intermediating sales layer.

Haihua Yongtai Law Firm (China side)

Haihua Yongtai is a major full-service PRC firm with offices across China's principal cities, with deep depth in corporate, finance, dispute resolution, insolvency & NPL, and intellectual property.

Scope of practice

• ✅ We do: cross-border contracts, corporate structuring, tax planning, cross-border insolvency, IP, dispute support, visas, formation
• ✅ We do: complex matters requiring coordination with local Japanese bengoshi and Chinese counsel
• ❌ We don't: Japanese domestic litigation representation (statutory exclusivity of Japanese bengoshi)
• ❌ We won't take on: matters we believe are not feasible. The first conversation is free—we will tell you honestly
